Please Remain Seated – Top 5 Post-Credit Scenes in The M.C.U.

Whether you are a diehard Marvel fan, fan of action, comedy, espionage, or a combination of all, Black Widow has something for everyone and delivers in a major way. Opening weekend numbers boast an estimated $218.8 million globally, $60 million alone in Disney + Premier Access. The M.C.U. (Marvel Cinematic Universe) has the “Midas Touch,” and the fans are here for it!

After watching Black Widow, as any well-conditioned Marvel fan, I patiently waited for the post-credit scene. But, as I sat there, I wondered, did I ever stick around for the movie credits before Marvel? Although post-credit scenes debuted in The Silencers (March 1966) and could be seen in The Muppets and other 80’s classics, post-credit scenes have become a Marvel staple. I know I’m not the only one that shakes their head at the sight of someone leaving the theatre beforehand. And, from Nick Fury’s debut to Yelena Belova’s new assignment courtesy of Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Marvel post-credit scenes are the gifts that keep giving. So, here are my Top 5 Marvel post-credit scenes.

Iron Man – 2008

We meet Nick Fury, The Director of S.H.I.E.L.D., and by one line, “You think you’re the only superhero in this world.”, not only was Tony Stark’s ego put in its place, we knew The Avengers were on their way.

Marvel’s The Avengers – 2012

For the first time in the M.C.U., we see Thanos, and he is warned that “The humans are unruly therefore can not be ruled, to challenge them is to court death.” The Mad Titan’s grin sent an eruption through the theatre that I can still remember.

Thor Dark World – 2013

Asgardian’s Volstagg and Lady Sif (minus the haircut we see in Loki, episode 4, on Disney +) hand over to the Reality Stone to The Collector, played by Benicio del Toro. Then, as if the Collector’s museum being loaded with Marvel “Easter Eggs” wasn’t enough, The Collector says, “One down 5 more to go.” eluding to the collection of all of the Infinity Stones.

The Age of Ultron – 2015

Thanos returns and says what every mom in history has said (If you don’t believe me, just ask the T.V.A., they can confirm.) “Fine, I’ll do it myself.” and grabs the Infinity Gauntlet. I may have yelled, ‘Bingo, we got action!’ in the theatre…judge away.

Captain American: Civil War – 2016

As if Captain America: Civil War wasn’t enough of a masterpiece, we see at the post-credit scene Captain America and King T’Challa and get a glimpse of the wonder that is Wakanda.

There are currently 37 post-credits scenes, which made narrowing it down to 5 pretty challenging. So let me know how I did in the comments, and be sure to list your Fave 5 as well.

  1. This is amazing! My favorites were mentioned in this list and I loved hearing about the other ones. I think my favorite of all time is when Thanos said “Fine, I’ll do it myself” so I love that it made your list! Great blog!!!

  2. Excellent collection. I love when we are introduced to Quicksilver & Scarlet Witch in Winter Soldier, and when we see adolescent Groot after GOTG2 lol. And I guess I must have dreamt it but I swore there was a P/C or M/C scene where Thor met the Guardians and tells them “who the hell are you guys…?”
